Job Description 

AFFCO Castlecliff is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Stockyards Supervisor to join our team.

This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the stockyards, ensuring the safe and efficient receipt and management of livestock while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and compliance.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for:
  • Managing the receival and flow of livestock to ensure a consistent supply to processing
  • Leading and supervising a team of stockyards staff
  • Ensuring animal welfare standards are maintained at all times
  • Maintaining compliance with MPI, company policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Liaising with transport operators, livestock suppliers, and internal production teams
  • Overseeing documentation including Animal Status Declarations (ASDs) and kill sheets
  • Ensuring stockyards hygiene, sanitation, and security standards are met
  • Driving a strong health and safety culture within your team

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience, ideally in a similar operations or livestock environment
  • Strong stockmanship skills with a genuine commitment to animal welfare
  • A sound understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements
  • The ability to lead, motivate and develop a team
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Good attention to detail and confidence with administrative tasks
  • A proactive approach to health and safety
