Meat Process Worker - Manawatū

Job Description
AFFCO Manawatū is gearing up for our busy season and putting together motivated teams at our modern processing plant in Feilding. We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic team members who have experience either in a meat processing role or in a comparable manufacturing or food processing environment to help get NZ beef from our backyard to customers plates.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on role working across different parts of the processing chain. You will support the preparation, handling, and packing of meat and associated products to meet production and quality standards.
The work is physical and repetitive at times, and suited to people who are reliable, practical, and able to follow instructions in a team environment.
Hours of work vary from 30–60 hours per week, with paid rates ranging from $25 to $42 per hour, dependent on assigned task, skill, and experience, plus any applicable allowances and overtime.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
- NZQCF Level 4 qualification in meat processing OR at least four months experience working in a comparable manual or production environment (such as food production, manufacturing, processing, or similar physically based work)
- Ability to carry out manual work, including lifting and standing for extended periods
- Reliable attendance and ability to follow instructions
- Basic understanding of workplace health and safety
- Willingness to work in a structured production environment
On-the-job training will be provided for all tasks.
As a member of our team, duties may include:
- Handling and moving product through processing areas, including chillers and freezers
- Packing meat products into cartons for storage or dispatch
- Assisting with processing tasks, which may include trimming or basic cutting where required
- Operating equipment used in processing and packing
- Inspecting product for quality standards
- Cleaning and sanitising equipment and work areas
- Following all health and safety requirements, including use of PPE
- Standing for up to 8 hours and lifting/moving items of at least 20kg
