Job Description

We're gearing up for our busy season and are putting together motivated teams to start at our Wairoa processing facility to help get NZ Beef and Lamb from our backyard to customers plates.

Breaking down a full carcass to individual portions is an art form, requiring skill and a strong attention to detail. AFFCO offers challenging work in great team environment with the understanding that our employees help to shape the future for our business and our industry.

Hours of work vary from 30–60 hours per week, with paid rates ranging from $28 to $42 per hour, dependent on assigned task, skill, and experience, plus any applicable allowances and overtime.

Qualifications

  • NZQCF Level 4 qualification in meat processing OR
  • At least three years of relevant experience as a Meat Boner, Experienced Knife Hand, or Bandsaw Operator (experience may substitute for the formal qualification)
  • Demonstrated experience operating bandsaws and/or advanced knife work in a meat processing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work to specifications
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast‑paced production environment

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for a lot of duties including: 

  • Bone or slice high value, quality beef and lamb into primal cuts for further processing or packaging for both local and export commercial or wholesale use. 
  • Taking pride in their work with strong attention to detail and the ability to listen and follow directions. 
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, mesh safety equipment) as provided by the Employer.
