Job Description 

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Halal Slaughters to join our processing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out animal slaughter in strict accordance with Islamic requirements, as well as company, industry, and regulatory standards.

The Halal Slaughter Person plays a critical role in our processing operations, ensuring that all livestock are slaughtered in full accordance with Islamic halal requirements, animal welfare expectations, and regulatory standards. This position is responsible for carrying out halal slaughter using approved techniques that uphold the highest levels of respect, care, and compliance.

Halal meat industry introductory courses are expected to be completed in this position, and we will consider applicants who can demonstrate a proven track record of learning and that are willing to undergo comprehensive training in both beef and lamb.

As a member of the team, you will be responsible for a lot of duties including the following:

• Slaughter beef and remove viscera and other valuable by-products from carcasses
• Bone or slice high value, quality beef or quarters into primal cuts for further processing or packaging for both local and export commercial or wholesale use
• Wearing personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, mesh safety equipment) as provided by the employer

Qualifications 

You must be a practicing Muslim, be allowed to work in NZ and be members of an Islamic Society in NZ.

Preference will be given to candidates that are already certified Halal Slaughtermen.
