Job Description

We are seeking Freezer hands and Forklift/Reach Truck Operators to join our busy team and operate in a continually variable shift work pattern vacancy in our cold store. These roles ensure all incoming product from processing departments are correctly handled and chilled, following the correct Food Safety and Quality procedures. 

This role will suit someone with drive, initiative, computer skills (not essential), the ability to work unsupervised, excellent communication skills and be physically able to lift heavy items. Ideally you have come from a busy warehouse position that involved performing a variety of duties, but this is not essential as training can be provided to suitable candidates.

These positions involve working in a cold environment, and includes; sorting and stacking cartons of product, picking orders, handling frozen carcasses, putting pallets into cold storage and relocating as required, loading containers and packing for local transport.

Successful applicants must demonstrate the following:

  • Proven experience with safe work practices
  • Willing to learn, work hard and reliable with a good attitude
  • Flexible to work weekends or night shift, long hours and early starts.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team or individual environment.
  • Experience in forklift/reach truck operations helpful but not essential.
  • Enthusiasm, willing to work hard, physically fit and able to lift 20 – 40+ kg cartons/carcasses.

 

Qualifications

While previous experience in this role would be an advantage, we are willing to offer training to a successful applicant with suitable experience and the right temperament.
