Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Compliance Manager to lead quality, regulatory, and compliance functions at our specialised production facility in Eltham.

This is a key leadership position within the plant, responsible for ensuring all products and processes meet regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and food safety standards, while supporting operational performance.

Working closely with the Allied Sales Manager and wider site leadership team, you will oversee quality systems, audits, laboratory coordination, and compliance programmes to ensure the site remains audit-ready and fully compliant at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and maintain site quality & compliance systems, procedures, and manuals
  • Manage compliance with MPI RMP (Risk Management Programme), HACCP, and food safety standards
  • Ensure all products meet required specifications, legal obligations, and customer standards
  • Maintain market access requirements and product registrations (e.g., NZFSA, EFSA)
  • Coordinate and lead internal, external, and customer audits
  • Maintain audit schedules and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Oversee the Halal Assurance Programme and certification requirements
  • Monitor laboratory results (internal and 3rd party) and approve product release
  • Manage Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and product documentation
  • Analyse production and yield data to support operational performance
  • Maintain MPI biosecurity permits and laboratory compliance
  • Lead non-conformance investigations and maintain NCR register
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across quality and compliance
  • Support resolution of customer complaints and quality issues
  • Identify and proactively manage compliance risks
  • Work closely with production and technical teams to resolve process issues
  • Support product development and small-scale testing
  • Assist with customer technical queries and quality questionnaires
  • Ensure accurate product labelling and documentation

 

Qualifications / Experience

  • Proven experience in a quality/compliance leadership role within food, dairy, biotech, or pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP, RMP, GMP, and audit frameworks
  • Experience dealing directly with regulatory authorities and external auditors
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across operations and leadership teams
  • Confident communicator with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience with enzyme production, fermentation, or biological processing
  • Knowledge of Halal compliance and export market access requirements
  • Familiarity with MPI regulatory frameworks in New Zealand
